Happiness is incompressible
happiness is incompressible.
if you are happy, someone else has to be sad. They are independent events but total happiness is always constant across the globe or even for a smaller set of people when observed in isolation.
never take happiness for granted.
cumulative happiness always seems to approach 0 which implies you can not be happy all the time in theory. if you are -2 happy for 5 days a +10 might be on the way, and vice versa if a +10 happens first some -5s can be expected. but it’s not that straightforward as the units scale over time. a +10 today might be +4 by tomorrows standards so the scale needs to be applied before applying the cummulative sum to get a weighted cummulative happiness sum.
lots of small failures are ideal.
when failures are inevitable, lots of them are hetter than a few large ones. for success it’s a choice whether lots of small one’s are good enough or a big one is needed. for most people this choice comes by luck, for some it may be a concious choice
