Week 104

What I pre-planned

• bhai
  • integrate the novel frontend model on mobile and test
  • integrate complete pipeline on mobile for true multilingual transcription
  • test diarization on mobile
  • work on battery power optimization on harware to extend battery life
• order and start reading designing data intensive applications by martin keppmann

What new did I learn

• an interesting thought while watching the expanse - “should you make the rich poor to make them understand or make the poor rich to make them forget?”
• bhai power optimization
  • debugged all possible states for bhai and the current draw from battery in each state
  • optimized firmware to completely shutdown and start off using the same pause resume button to extend life from a day to two days
  • realized the sd card just being on drains the most current leaking and the only solution is to bodge the tiny amplifier chip or toggle the entire board on/off using load gate
  • probably lots of new soldering skills and challenges for smd components, tiny copper wires etc. how the p channel mosfet works, how the amplifier works and its datasheet specs
• bhai lid and transcription pipeline
  • model works well even on phone
  • benchmarked 5x realtime speed for multilingual transcription, diarization is a bit slow still
• new thoughts on future token currency system in enterprises

Where/How did I implement it

• ordered ddia, started reading it. chapter 1 completed
• bhai power optimization
  • ordered a load gate mosfet to switch the bff chip off using gpio on demand
  • 2hrs soldering session, additional 2hr debugging and making it work (uart caused io pin issues)
• bhai app
  • app is finally coming together, pipeline is in place and working
  • ux overhaul from debugging focus to user focus, good feedback and getting there
• organized all my electronics in labelled robu boxes

Any memorable moments of the week

• mutuals back on the timeline, twitter just got fun again
• made some really tasty pasta form whatever was there at home, super delicious with nachos
• fun late night call with the homies
• ayush sent a dm which made my day
• very productive weekend, fully prepared for the fifa world cup final (congratulations spain)
